About the Project

2005-2009

Mobile Art Gallery events curated artists’ creative work in spaces that reflected specific themes for each exhibit.

These hybrid art & design events combined art exhibition with a mini-publication that featured the work of each artist. The exhibits were an extension of the arts and literature online journal Mental Contagion, sponsored by Karen’s design business Design for the Arts. They featured visual artists, artisans, photographers, writers, filmmakers, musicians, and speakers. Each event was hosted by a local business within the Twin Cities community in a space that reflected the theme of the show.

The format was designed to create collaborative synergy and build connections between local artists, local businesses, and the community. Events were open to the public and offered a free mini-publication to promote artists and their work. Event founder Karen Kopacz organized and curated events, designed the artist booklets, and worked with artists to install their work.
