Loose Leaf Projects
A Practice for Project-Making
Restorative Creative Development
Loose Leaf is an art studio in-the-making. The vision for the studio nurtures the practice of project-making and restorative creative development experiences. Its guiding philosophy embraces craft, story, organic process, idea-sharing, and togetherness.
Creative Flow Workshops
Being in nature deepens connection with ourselves, each other, and the living world. Creative Flow offers one-on-one or small group nature immersive workshops for Brand & Creative Development. You can sign up for a Creative Flow workshop in the Twin Cities area through Design for the Arts. Contact Karen to discuss how these workshops can be tailored to your individual needs.
As the nature studio evolves in the next few years, it will be a place to host workshops in a Northern Wisconsin woodland setting. Collaborators and guests will be able to workshop new ideas and ease into creative flow. The studio will not be available for overnight stays, but lodging and free camping options area accessible nearby for guests who would like to extend their stay in the area.
Print Collections & Artist-Designed Books
Loose Leaf is also a developing model for collaborative projects with guest creators. As the concept evolves, its projects will explore art-making and story in the context of print collections and limited-edition artist-designed books and journals. Its pilot project, New Midwestern Nature Stories, is the first in a series of projects to come. It is also an archive for past collaborations, including Mental Contagion—a monthly online journal (2000-2008) that featured work from artists and writers with national and international reach.
